Club stalwart and umpire in 1960s and 70s

Falkland Cricket Club is sad to record the death of John Dyson who passed away just a few weeks after his younger brother Keith. A private funeral has already taken place.
John, along with Keith and supported by their father and mother, effectively kept Falkland CC alive during some lean times in the early 1960s
John then became a regular umpire for Falkland in the 1970s when the league cricket era began and the club entered the Hampshire League.
John's first love was swimming and he was the frst captain of Newbury Swimming Club
The following is an extract from the history section on their web site
"John Dyson was our first captain and he has set the example for those who have followed. Only a teenager in the early days his sensible advice on the practicalities far outweighed his youth. Largely responsible for the success of our first few galas, water polo efforts and competitive swimming, he and his family’s work for the club is second to none".

A true clubman in every sense.
