We’ve absolutely loved welcoming our community’s youngest budding cricketers to FCC every Saturday morning. Since early May they’ve enjoyed a whole host of cricket-based activities and fun, concluding with the traditional guard of honour at the end of the last sessions.
Now in our seventh season, a fantastic 100 girls and boys registered to join us this year, with 65 All Stars aged 5-8 and 35 Dynamos aged 8-11. They’ve turned out in all weathers, always enthusiastically and thoroughly enjoying the activities and challenges put on by our awesome team of Activators.
A huge thank you also goes to all the parents who came along, readily getting involved, picking up wayward balls and encouraging the children to hone their dazzling new cricket skills. And to our junior cricketers who have also supported the sessions, maybe even kickstarting coaching careers of their own.
Junior Cricket Coach Co-ordinator, Richard Langdon said, “We had a good number of children but, as ever, we'd like see even more girls getting into cricket at Falkland. If anyone is the parent of girls, or knows parents who are, then do let them know about All Stars and Dynamos cricket as it's an ideal introduction to sporting activity.”
“All the organisation and energy comes from our team of volunteer Activators, who give their time every week to ensure the kids have fantastic cricket-based fun. A huge thank you to them. If you might like to join the Activators team next year, please do let us know when you sign up your child. It's hard work for an hour, but great fun working with a good team and no cricket experience necessary.”
We hope to run the sessions at Falkland in 2025 and if anyone is interested in joining the action (children and parents!) then please use the link and 'register interest' to get booking details when the system opens next year.
